Wood cellulose obtained after barking and shreeding is treated with an alkali like NaOH and later with Carbon di sulfide(CS2), the resulting product obtained is a substance by name Cellulose Xanthate. This Cellulose Xanthate once obtained is later treated with NaOH, the Cellulose Xanthate gets dissolved in NaOH forming a alkaline Cellulose Xanthate i.e a thick alkali solution of cellulose Xanthate is formed which is called Viscose.
